Federations

The Cooperatives present in the different sectors of activity are organised into Sectoral Federations. Since 1996 Basque Cooperativism as a whole has been structured around a single organisation of representation and development with the setting up of Konfekoop –the Basque Cooperatives Confederation. It used to be made up of the following 6 Federations:

• Basque Consumer Cooperatives Federation (1988)
• Basque Agricultural Cooperatives Federation (1989)
• Basque Banking Cooperatives Federation (1989)
• Basque Associated Work Cooperatives Federation (1989)
• Basque Education Cooperatives Federation (1990)
• Basque Haulier Cooperatives Federation (1992)

2006 saw a process to merge several organisations of the Basque Cooperative Movement with the aim of taking advantage of synergies and combining services. This resulted in Konfekoop comprising the 4 Federations that came out of that process:

• Basque Consumer Cooperatives Federation (1988)
• Basque Agricultural Cooperatives Federation (1989)
• Basque Haulier Cooperatives Federation (1992)
• Erkide - Basque Associated Work, Education and Banking Cooperatives Federation (2006)
